Budi Nurrachmad, from Jakarta, Indonesia, sent me these photos from a grand day out of the “PEUGEOT 504 Community”. In this community, Budi and his fellow enthusiasts from all over Indonesia own 504s of all types (Berline, Break and Pick-up) - but not 504 Coupé or Cabriolet. This community also has it's own mailing lis: pug504@yahoogroups.com, to share all 504 informations with all 504 users in Indonesia

On September 24th - 25th 2004, the “PEUGEOT 504 Community” were having a nice trip together to have a one night camping in Salak Mounting. This volcano is located about 100 km south of Jakarta, with an altitude of about 1000m above sea level.

Budi is pictured here with his 1980 PEUGEOT 504, in Brown Metalic, fitted now with A/C and PAS. Budi reports that about 8000 – 9000 504s had been produced in Indonesia from 1974 to 1982. His car is production number “6020”

One of the biggest 504 problems in Indonesia is the wear of the interior due to the heat and high humidity. This is why the “PEUGEOT 504 Community” would like to start having friends across the nations to get access or information how to get spares - either remanufactured or 2nd hand in good condition. So if you think you can help, let Budi know

In November 2004 I had the chance to meet Budi and his friends from the “PEUGEOT 504 Community” in Jakarta. We spent one evening together, with lots of 504s, and had a great time. It is fantastic to meet such nice 504 enthusiasts from the "other side of the world"...
Rare 504 Pick-up, never officially imported to Indonesia. Watch this space for a complete report of our meeting, with tons of great pictures!
Iwan Gunawan owns this 1975 504 GL. When this photo was taken, it featured 14" 505 alloy wheels (as it still does), a 32-35 TMIMA carb (as used in the 505 XN1)...
...and a ported & polished cylinder head. But these modifications were still not enough for Iwan, so he converted it into...

...a Coupé!!! Iwan cut the B-posts and moved them back approx. 15cm, fabricated new door skins rear & front from 0.9mm galvanised steel and made a new chassis & floor. Iwan says that the difficult points when converting your Berline into a Coupé are: Door hinges (the door dropped)...

...window winder mechanism (too weak even for standard glass, Iwan fiddled with it for 3 desperate days until he got Civic ones) and the glass (custom made). Note the lighter blue colour, and all the 504s in the background (both '83 models with bulky rubber bumpers, applicable for models '82 to late '83 according to Iwan).
Additional modifications were done on the engine: New valvetrain, electric fan conversion, 120A alternator (from a 406!), battery moved back, etc. Iwan: "The engine screams, sounds great without pulley-driven fans and ran easily up to 6000rpm..."
I spotted this 504 in primer when on vacation on Bali 2002. This was the only 504 I saw during my stay, so when I found this car in the middle of the island, I jumped out of our Suzuki Jeep and took this pic. Nobody spoke english, but it's obvious that some restoration work is carried out

This tastefully tuned 1975 PEUGEOT 504 GL is owned by Eko Setiansyah from Jakarta, Indonesia. The engine is an XN-1 1971cc gas with Solex carb (from a 505) instead of the original Zenith...
Wheels are 15"with 406 covers. Last but not least this 504 features a tachometer from Citroen. Eko owns also a 1983 505 GR to keep this beauty company
This real beauty is Nelson Fabian Daquioag's "old lion" which still still travels 85 km a day in the notorious traffic in Jakarta, Indonesia. The "old lion" is a '75 504 GL, restored and modified by Nelson

Nelson uses 185 75X14" tyres, who barely fit the front shock housing: Just half of finger gap between the tyres is left... Nelson's restoration project policy is to bring the 504 to its original condition plus ad w/w tyres to get the 70's era look and feel - nothing fancy, just a plain 504 from the 70's...
Nelson swapped the Zenith carbs with later Aisin Carbs. "Its keeps the lion running like a new-born cub". Note A/C compressor
